For your test results please telephone your practice between 11.00am - 4:00pm as our office staff will have more time to deal with your request between these times.
Test results are received electronically throughout the day. Results are then reviewed by a GP who will indicate if any action should be taken.
Test results cannot be given out until seen by a GP.
The reception team follow a very strict protocol for giving out results, as they are not clinically trained. The practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
On some occasions results are complicated and if this is the case we will offer you an appointment to discuss them in more detail.
When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice. On average please allow 5 working days for your test results to come back from the hospital and for them to be checked by the GP. Please note that X-ray results take a little longer, usually 14 days. Cervical cytology results (smears) will be posted to you. Please allow at 2 weeks for these results to be received.
It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if you are advised to do so.
